Scripture
"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

— Galatians 6:2 (NIV)

From the book "Still Walking"
"Church feels routine, even distant … boring! Deep down, you wonder—what’s wrong with me? ... This is a chapter every believer lives through, even if they don’t talk about it."

Friend, have you ever walked into church, looked around, and felt a strange sense of distance? Perhaps you’ve been there, week after week, but deep down, a quiet ache persists. The vibrant community you longed for seems just out of reach. We all have moments like this—times when the very place designed to uplift our souls can feel routine, even a little bit isolating. Maybe a well-meaning comment landed wrong, a trust was broken, or you simply felt lost in the crowd. It’s easy to wonder, “What’s wrong with me? Am I not spiritual enough?” But let me assure you, you are not alone in that feeling. This is a journey many believers walk, even if they don't always voice it. It’s a universal chapter in our faith story.

God never intended for us to carry our burdens alone, friend. His Word in Galatians 6:2 reminds us, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Think of it like this: Sometimes life throws us curveballs, and we find ourselves staggering. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, but we still carry the weight of that experience. We weren’t meant to be solo acts. God designed us for connection, for outstretched hands and understanding hearts. He knows that when we lift each other up, when we share the load, the burden lightens. It’s a beautiful, divine exchange.

So, if you’ve felt that disconnect, that quiet longing for deeper connection, don't let it settle in. Don't let past hurts build walls around your heart. God is a God of restoration, a God who delights in making all things new. He can heal those tender places, mend what’s been broken, and open doors to grace-filled relationships. You see, the Church, with all its beautiful imperfections (because it’s made up of us, imperfect people!), is still God’s chosen vehicle for love, for hope, for building His kingdom right here on earth.

Perhaps it starts with a simple step, a kind word, an invitation to coffee. Maybe it's rediscovering a community anew, or finding a fresh place where your spirit can truly flourish. Don't let yesterday’s disappointments rob you of tomorrow’s blessings. God has an amazing community waiting for you, a place where you can both give and receive, where burdens are shared, and joy is multiplied. Get ready to experience the incredible power of Christian companionship, because God is orchestrating divine connections just for you. Your best days of fellowship are still ahead!

Reflect

What is one small step you can take this week to open your heart to deeper connection and Christian companionship?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for designing us for community and connection. We come to You with open hearts, asking for Your healing touch on any past hurts or disappointments we’ve experienced within the church. Help us to release burdens we were never meant to carry alone. Guide us, Lord, to grace-filled relationships and communities where we can truly carry each other’s burdens, fulfill Your law of Christ, and experience the joy of true fellowship. We trust You to lead us to where we belong. Amen.
