When Grace Chases You Down

Even after years of wandering, Shane realized you can never outrun the everlasting mercy and love of Jesus Christ. That revelation brought him back. Friend…

Scripture
"But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me."

— Psalm 13:5-6

From the book "Still Walking"
"Even after years of wandering, Shane realized you can never outrun the everlasting mercy and love of Jesus Christ. That revelation brought him back."

Friend, have you ever felt that quiet ache, that subtle whisper in your soul, reminding you of a joy you once knew, a connection that now feels distant? It's like watching a vibrant sunset fade into twilight, and suddenly, you realize you're a long way from home. Perhaps, like many of us, you've journeyed off the beaten path, exploring roads that promised dazzling views but led only to dusty emptiness. You thought you were finding freedom, but in your heart, you knew something vital was missing. Maybe a part of you even believed you'd gone too far, that you'd exhausted every last bit of God's patience, that His love had finally given up the chase.

But oh, what a beautiful, breathtaking truth I want to share with you today! You can never, ever outrun the glorious, unstoppable grace of God. Think of it like this: His grace isn't a finish line you have to reach; it's the wind at your back, constantly propelling you forward, even when you're looking the other way. Even when you're doing your own thing, even when you've made choices you regret, His love isn't sitting on a cloud, shaking its head in disappointment. No, His love is actively, passionately pursuing you, drawing you back with invisible cords of kindness.

This isn't a love that scolds you for straying; it's a love that celebrates your return. It's the kind of boundless mercy that says, "Welcome home, my child. I've been waiting for you." Just like the scripture reminds us in Psalm 13:5-6, "But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me." Even when we've wandered, His steadfast love never wavers. It's always there, a steady beacon in the night.

I remember those seasons when I thought I was simply "doing my own thing," charting my own course. But deep down, there was a quiet famine in my spirit, a longing for something more authentic, more fulfilling. The beautiful revelation wasn't about me finding my way back to God, but realizing that He had never left. He was right there, all along, patiently waiting for me to simply turn around, to acknowledge that relentless, incredible pursuit. And when you do, my friend, that's when the music starts. That's when your heart can't help but sing, because you realize He has truly dealt bountifully with you, more than you could ever imagine or deserve. His grace is bigger than any mistake, stronger than any doubt, and more consistent than any sunrise. Embrace it, lean into it, and let His loving pursuit fill your life with joy and peace.

May you walk today with the confident assurance that God's grace is not just a concept, but a powerful, living force that is always, always drawing you closer, showering you with favor, and preparing you for a future filled with His boundless goodness.

Reflect
