Grace: It Always Finds You

Grace has a long reach, and you can't outrun the feet of Jesus. Friend, have you ever felt like you could outrun your past? Maybe you’ve made some choices…

Scripture
"But where sin increased, grace increased all the more."

— Romans 5:20b

From the book "Still Walking"
"Grace has a long reach, and you can't outrun the feet of Jesus."

Friend, have you ever felt like you could outrun your past? Maybe you’ve made some choices you’re not proud of, taken a detour from the path you knew was right, or perhaps you just drifted, little by little, until you looked up and realized you were miles from where you intended to be. You might even think you've gone too far, that you're beyond the reach of grace. But let me tell you a secret, a profound truth that will lift your spirit and lighten your load: grace has a long, long reach. It's like a persistent, loving whisper that follows you, a warm embrace that's always there, no matter how far you roam.

Think about it, even in our wandering, even when we feel lost in the wilderness of our own making, there's a divine GPS that's always tracking us, always pointing us home. It’s not a GPS that judges your wrong turns; it’s one that celebrates every step you take back towards the light. The Bible says in Romans 5:20, 'But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.' Isn't that amazing? It doesn't say grace *decreased* or grace *disappeared* when things got tough. No, it says grace *increased*. It super-sized itself just for you!

This isn't about earning your way back or proving your worthiness. Goodness gracious, if it were, none of us would stand a chance! This is about a God who loves you fiercely, relentlessly. He’s not sitting on His throne with a stern look, tapping His foot, waiting for you to get it all together. No, He’s on the edge of His seat, scanning the horizon, just like the father in the story of the prodigal son. The moment he saw his son, still a long way off, what did he do? He ran! He ran to him, embraced him, and celebrated his return. That’s our Heavenly Father, friend. He's running to you, not from you.

So, if you’ve been carrying the heavy weight of regret, if you’ve felt disqualified or too far gone, let that burden fall away right now. His grace isn't a trickle; it's a mighty, overflowing river that can wash away every mistake, every missed opportunity, every moment of doubt. You can't outrun the feet of Jesus; His love, His mercy, His grace are always reaching, always pursuing, always ready to restore. Open your heart to it today, and watch how His incredible grace finds you, right where you are, lifting you to new heights of peace and joy.

Reflect

In what area of your life do you most need to let God's relentless grace find you today, and how might you open your heart to receive it?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your endless, incredible grace. Thank You that no matter where we've been or what we've done, Your love pursues us relentlessly. Help us to truly grasp the magnificent truth that where sin increased, Your grace increased all the more. We receive Your mercy today, and we choose to walk in the freedom and restoration that only Your grace can provide. We believe that we are always within Your loving reach, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Amen.
