Can you picture it? Standing on the shore, the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon, painting the sky in strokes of orange and pink. It feels like the edge of the world, a place of magnificent possibility. In those grand, breathtaking moments, it’s easy to feel the presence of God.
But what about when the sun sets? What about the quiet Tuesday afternoon, the long commute, the waiting room, the middle of the night? We sometimes think God is only in the spectacular, on the mountaintops of our faith. But my friend, our God is a God of the surprising and the unseen. He is intimately acquainted with every corner of your life.
The Psalmist David knew this. He asks, almost with a sense of awe, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” This isn’t the question of a man trying to escape, but of a man wrapped in the comfort of a love that will not let him go. Think about the incredible promise in those words. If you soar to the highest heights, He is there cheering you on. If you find yourself in the lowest valley, a place you feel forgotten, "if I make my bed in the depths," He is there, turning on a light. He is not afraid of your messy places; He redeems them.
Maybe you feel like you’re on “the far side of the sea” today, in a place of transition or uncertainty, far from everything that feels familiar. You need to hear this promise: “even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” That is not the grip of a taskmaster, but the steady, loving hand of a Father who is leading you somewhere wonderful. He is not waiting for you to find your way back to Him; He is with you right now, this very moment. Today, lift your eyes. Look for Him in the kindness of a coworker, the laughter of a child, the unexpected peace that settles your heart. He is whispering your name in the unseen places, not with disappointment, but with immeasurable love and a grace that knows no bounds.
You have not been forgotten. You have been chosen, cherished, and held. And His hand will guide you all the way home.
