Grace: The Love That Chases You Down

Grace has a long reach, and you can't outrun the feet of Jesus. You can never outrun the everlasting mercy and love of Jesus Christ. Friend, have you ever…

Scripture
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

— Romans 5:8

From the book "Still Walking"
"Grace has a long reach, and you can't outrun the feet of Jesus. You can never outrun the everlasting mercy and love of Jesus Christ."

Friend, have you ever felt like you've just run out of road? Like you've veered so far off course, taken so many wrong turns, that you’re simply too far gone to find your way back? Maybe you’ve made some choices you regret, piled up some mistakes, and now you’re convinced you’ve worn out your welcome with God. I understand that feeling. There was a time in my life when I truly believed I had outrun God’s patience, out-sinned His grace, and was beyond the reach of His loving hand. The world whispered those condemning thoughts, and for a while, I believed them.

But here's the wonderful truth, etched into the very fabric of the universe: you simply cannot outrun grace! Think of it like this: picture a loving parent whose child has wandered off. Do they simply give up? No! They search, they call, they pursue with a relentless love that knows no bounds. That, my friend, is a glimpse into the heart of our heavenly Father. He isn't sitting on a throne, shaking His head in disappointment. No, He is actively pursuing you, His love a tireless runner on the path of your life.

The scripture today, Romans 5:8, paints such a beautiful picture: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Did you catch that? *While we were still sinners*. Not after we cleaned up our act. Not after we earned His affection. But in our mess, in our wandering, in our brokenness, He made the ultimate sacrifice. That, my friend, is grace in action – a love so profound, so unyielding, that it reaches down into the deepest valleys to lift us up.

Grace isn't a reward for good behavior; it's a gift for the undeserving. It's not something you earn; it's something freely given. And because of that incredible truth, you can let go of the heavy burden of guilt and shame. You are not too broken, too flawed, or too far gone for His amazing love. His mercy is an endless ocean, His forgiveness a gentle wave washing over every regret. Every single one. His love is not just waiting for you; it is actively, passionately, and relentlessly *chasing* after you.

So, today, dear friend, know this: God's love for you is fierce, unwavering, and eternally abundant. No matter where you are right now, no matter what you've done, His grace has a long reach, and you, my friend, are always within its grasp. You are cherished, you are valued, and you are deeply, powerfully loved. Expect His goodness to find you, to surround you, and to lift you into a future filled with hope and boundless possibilities!

Reflect

Where in your life do you need to let God's relentless grace catch up to you, allowing His unending love to wash away any lingering feelings of unworthiness or distance?

Today's prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, amazed by Your relentless love. Thank You for Your incredible grace that pursues us even when we try to run. Help us to fully grasp the depth of Your unending mercy and to live in the freedom that Your forgiveness brings. May we always remember that we are cherished, chosen, and deeply loved, not because of what we do, but because of who You are. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
