Still Walking (Even With A Limp): Perseverance Through Wounds

Scripture
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

— 2 Corinthians 12:9

From the book "Still Walking"
"Don't you dare hide your limp. It's not a sign of your weakness, but the very place God has chosen to display His strength."

Have you ever seen an old, weathered tree standing alone on a windy hill? Its branches might be twisted, its trunk scarred by a lightning strike from a long-ago storm. It’s not perfect, is it? But it’s still standing. Still reaching for the sun. There is a magnificent strength in its survival, a beauty in its imperfections.

My friend, you and I are a lot like that tree. We’ve been through some storms, haven’t we? Life has a way of leaving its mark. Maybe it’s a nagging insecurity, a past hurt that still aches, or a dream that feels broken. You might feel like you’re walking with a bit of a limp. It’s so easy to look at that limp and think it disqualifies you, that you need to be perfectly “whole” before God can truly use you for something wonderful. But that is not your Father’s way.

He sees your history, every scar, every battle, and He doesn’t see a liability. He sees a warrior. He sees a survivor. He sees the perfect canvas for His grace. The Apostle Paul had something he called a “thorn,” a weakness that he begged God to take away. But God’s answer is a promise for you today: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Did you catch that? Not in spite of your weakness, but *because* of it. Your weakness is the very place God’s incredible, world-changing power comes to rest.

That limp doesn’t mean you’re failing; it means you’re still in the race! It’s the beautiful, rhythmic sound of your dependence on Him. Every step you take, no matter how unsteady it feels, is a testament to your faith. It’s a sermon that preaches, “I can’t, but I know the One who can.” Others will see you moving forward, not because you are flawless, but because you are faithful, and they will see the undeniable strength of the God who holds you up. Your continued walk gives them permission to keep walking, too.

So please, don’t you ever be ashamed of your limp. It is the story of your victory, the evidence of God’s grace. Lift your head high, my dear friend. Your journey is a glorious display of a God whose power is shining through you, turning your points of weakness into a testimony of His unending strength.

Reflect

How can you begin to see your greatest challenge not as a setback, but as a stage for God's power to be revealed in your life?

Today's prayer
Father, thank You for seeing my story, my scars, and calling them beautiful opportunities for Your glory. Today, I joyfully accept that Your grace is more than enough. I will not hide my weaknesses, but boast in the incredible strength You are perfecting in me. Let my every step, even the ones that feel like a limp, be a dance of faith that honors You. Amen.
