Scripture
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”"

— Joshua 1:9

From the book "Still Walking"
"Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the decision to act in spite of it. And sometimes, it's profoundly uncomfortable."

'''Friend, have you ever stood at the edge of something new, a great adventure perhaps, or a daunting task, and felt that familiar tremor in your spirit? It's like standing on a diving board, staring down at the water, knowing you need to jump but every fiber of your being is whispering, "Stay put! It's safer here." We all face those moments, don't we? Moments where the path ahead, though promising, feels a little wobbly, a little uncertain. It's in these very seasons that courage isn't just a nice idea; it's an absolute necessity. But here's the good news: you're not meant to conjure it up all on your own. It's a gift, a promise, wrapped in grace.

The Lord spoke these powerful words to Joshua, words that echo through the centuries, still reaching our hearts today: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). What a magnificent reassurance! Notice, God didn't say, "Don't ever feel a twinge of fear." He knows our humanity, our quickness to wonder and worry. But He did say, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." It's a call to action, to choose faith over fear, to step forward even when your knees are knocking. It's a directive to not let fear dictate your destiny, or discouragement dim your dazzling future.

Maybe for you today, courage looks like having that difficult conversation you've been avoiding. Or perhaps it's taking a bold step in your career, launching that dream, or pursuing that calling that's been stirring in your heart. It could be as simple, yet profound, as owning your story, embracing your past, and believing for a brilliant future. Whatever it is, that little nudge in your spirit, that sense of "I should, but it feels so big" – that's often God inviting you to a new level of trust.

He doesn't ask you to be fearless; He asks you to be faithful. And here's the wonderful truth: when God calls you to a task, He always equips you for it. He doesn't just point the way; He walks with you, every single step. Imagine that! The Creator of the universe, the One who flung the stars into space and painted the sunrise, is right there beside you, whispering encouragement, strengthening your resolve. You aren't navigating the unknown alone; you are walking hand-in-hand with the Almighty.

So, as you face your day, whatever mountain stands before you, whatever river needs crossing, remember this divine promise. You are not defined by your fears, but by His presence within you. Take a deep breath, lift your chin, and step out. For with Him, you are strong enough, you are brave enough, and you are more than able to conquer anything that comes your way. Your tomorrow is bright, filled with His goodness and His unfailing presence.''', prayer='''Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your never-ending presence and Your courageous call on our lives. We confess that sometimes fear tries to hold us back, and discouragement whispers its lies. Today, we choose to believe Your Word. Fill us with Your strength, dear Lord, and embolden our hearts to step out in faith even when it feels uncomfortable. Reflect

What is one area in your life where you know God is calling you to be strong and courageous, even if it feels a little uncomfortable right now?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your never-ending presence and Your courageous call on our lives. We confess that sometimes fear tries to hold us back, and discouragement whispers its lies. Today, we choose to believe Your Word. Fill us with Your strength, dear Lord, and embolden our hearts to step out in faith even when it feels uncomfortable. Remind us that You are always with us, guiding our steps and paving the way, so we can walk in the victory You've already secured. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
