God of the Everywhere!

God of the Hidden Places - finding God in unexpected places. My friend, have you ever found yourself searching for God in all the usual places? Maybe you're…

Scripture
"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me."

— Psalm 139:7-10

From the book "Still Walking"
"God of the Hidden Places - finding God in unexpected places."

My friend, have you ever found yourself searching for God in all the usual places? Maybe you're in church on a Sunday morning, singing your heart out, and you feel Him. Perhaps you're deep in prayer, pouring out your soul, and His presence is tangible. Those moments are precious, aren't they? They're like shining beacons, reminding us of His love and faithfulness.

But what about those other times? What about the quiet hum of the washing machine, the rush of traffic on your morning commute, or the pile of laundry that never seems to shrink? What about the challenging conversations, the unexpected detours, or the moments when life just feels… ordinary? It's easy to think that God is only in the "big" spiritual moments, that He's only present when we actively seek Him out in a designated holy space. But oh, what a wonder it is to discover that our God is so much bigger than that!

The Psalmist, in Psalm 139, paints such a beautiful, sweeping picture of God's omnipresence. He asks, "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?" Think about that for a moment. It's not just a rhetorical question; it's a declaration of an undeniable, glorious truth. Whether you soar high in the heavens of success and joy, or walk through the valleys of doubt and disappointment, He is there. If you wake up with the sunrise, feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the day, He's there. Even if you feel like you're drifting to the "uttermost parts of the sea," far from familiar shores, His hand is leading you, His right hand is holding you.

This isn't just a poetic notion; it's a promise that radically transforms our everyday lives. It means that no place is too hidden, no moment too mundane, no struggle too small or too large for His presence. That difficult conversation you're dreading? He's in it with you. That quiet, seemingly unremarkable task? He's there. The silent cries of your heart when no one else understands? He hears them, and He is closer than you can imagine.

So often, we limit God, thinking He's only at the mountaintop experiences. But He's not just the God of the spectacular; He's the God of the everyday. He's in the gentle laughter of your children, the comforting embrace of a loved one, the unexpected kindness from a stranger. He's in the quiet whispers of your own heart, guiding and reassuring you. He's a constant companion, ever-present, always loving, always leading.

Today, let that truth settle deep within your spirit: you are never alone. God is not only in the grand, miraculous moments, but He is also intimately present in every single hidden place of your life. He's got you. And He's bringing good out of every situation, every corner, every twist and turn of your journey. Get ready to experience His goodness, even in the "unseen" places. Your best days are still ahead, filled with His presence wherever you go!

Reflect

Where in your everyday life, perhaps in those "hidden places," can you begin to actively look for and acknowledge God's ever-present hand today?

Today's prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of everywhere! Thank You that there is no place we can go, no situation we can face, where Your loving presence isn't already there, surrounding us. Open our eyes, Lord, to see You in the ordinary, in the unexpected, and even in the challenges. Help us to feel Your guiding hand and Your comforting embrace, knowing that we are always held securely in Your love. Amen.
