Scripture
"For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."

— Psalm 30:5

From the book "Still Walking"
"God doesn't just flip a switch on your darkness; He paints you a personal sunrise. His goodness is not in a hurry, but it is always on its way."

Have you ever sat in the pre-dawn quiet, watching the horizon? Long before the sun bursts forth, there’s a subtle shift. A softening. The deep, inky blackness gives way to a gentle navy blue, then a hint of violet. It’s not a sudden flood of light, but a slow, breathtaking reveal. This, my friend, is how God often works His greatest miracles.

There are seasons when the night feels long. The pillow is damp with tears, and the silence of the house feels heavy. You’ve been praying, believing, waiting for your breakthrough, and you may be tempted to wonder if the morning will ever come. That’s when you must hold on to the incredible promise found in the Psalms: "weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."

Notice the psalmist doesn’t say *despair* lives in the night. Just weeping. Tears are not a sign of failure; they are a sign of a heart that is still soft, still hoping, still feeling. But that season of sorrow has an expiration date! The scripture doesn’t say joy *might* come, or *could* come. It says rejoicing COMES in the morning. It is a certainty. It is a divine appointment scheduled by the Creator of the universe just for you.

God is not slow; He is intentional. He is the Master Artist, and He is painting a magnificent sunrise over your situation. Every small victory, every glimmer of hope, every unexpected moment of peace—that is the purple and gold beginning to streak across your sky. Don’t despise the gradual nature of your healing or the slow unfolding of your blessing. God is building something beautiful and lasting. His anger, the scripture says, is just "for a moment," a fleeting shadow. But His favor? That "lasts a lifetime!" You are stepping out of a momentary season and into a lifetime of favor. That’s the good news of the Gospel!

Your morning is coming. The light is already breaking on the horizon, chasing away the shadows. The sorrow of the night cannot and will not last forever against the relentless, joyful light of God’s love for you. Get ready. A new day of rejoicing is dawning in your life.

Reflect

What sign of new light, no matter how small, can you thank God for today as a promise of the full sunrise He is preparing for you?

Today's prayer
Father, thank You for the unshakable promise of morning. Even when my eyes see only darkness, my heart trusts that You are already painting a beautiful sunrise for me. Strengthen my faith to celebrate the small glimmers of light, knowing they are previews of the glorious day You have prepared. I declare that weeping is only for a night, but a lifetime of Your favor is my destiny. Amen.
