Your Morning is Coming!

When the night lasts long – dark nights of the soul, endurance. Still Walking (even with a limp) – perseverance despite wounds. Have you ever had one of…

Scripture
"For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

— Psalm 30:5

From the book "Still Walking"
"When the night lasts long – dark nights of the soul, endurance. Still Walking (even with a limp) – perseverance despite wounds."

Have you ever had one of those nights, friend, where you tossed and turned, watching the clock tick by, longing for the first sliver of dawn? Maybe it wasn't just a literal night, but a season of your life—a 'dark night of the soul'—where hope seemed to whisper in a distant echo, and joy felt like a forgotten melody. It’s tough, isn’t it, when the path ahead feels shrouded in shadow, and every step takes a monumental effort.

I want to assure you today, if you're in one of those seasons, that you're not lost, and you're not alone. We all face these extended periods where our spirits feel weary, our emotions drained, and the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other feels like traversing through thick mud. But here’s the good news: just like a literal night has a guaranteed sunrise, your spiritual night has a morning waiting to break through.

The Psalmist, so wonderfully, tells us in Psalm 30:5 that 'weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.' Isn't that powerful? It doesn't deny the reality of the tears, or the length of the night. It validates your experience, acknowledging that sometimes, the darkness can feel all-consuming. But then, with an expectant hush, it declares 'joy comes in the morning!' This isn't just a hopeful wish; it's a divine promise, woven into the very fabric of creation and God's unwavering character.

Your assignment during these long nights, precious friend, isn't to perfectly navigate the darkness without a stumble. It's simply to keep walking, to keep believing, even if it feels like you're limping. That 'limp' isn't a sign of weakness; it’s a testament to your unyielding faith, a courageous act of endurance, showing that you refuse to let the darkness win. You are still in the game, still moving forward, still leaning on the One who holds the morning in His hands.

Don't ever think that because you can't see the light, the light isn't there. God is with you in every shadow, guiding your steps, even when you feel His presence least. Your pain has a purpose, and your struggle is leading you to strength. Every tear you've shed is being collected, and every moment of endurance is developing a deeper faith within you. So hold on, keep your chin up, because your morning, filled with unimaginable joy, is not just coming – it’s already on its way!

Reflect

What "night" are you currently enduring, and how can you hold onto the promise that joy is coming with your morning?

Today's prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness, which is new every morning. Even when our nights feel long and our hearts are heavy, we hold onto Your promise that joy always comes with the dawn. Strenghten us, Lord, to keep walking in faith, knowing that You are with us in every step, guiding us through the darkness and into Your glorious light. We believe that our best days are still ahead, filled with Your goodness and grace. Amen.
