Scripture
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."

— Ecclesiastes 9:10a

From the book "Still Walking"
"Our days are filled with tasks, big and small. It's tempting to cut corners, to rush through, or to simply go through the motions. But God calls us to a higher standard, to infuse every action, however seemingly insignificant, with purpose and diligence. This isn't about perfection; it's about faithfulness."

Think for a moment about your hands. They are quite remarkable, aren't they? They hold the coffee mug in the quiet of the morning, they grip the steering wheel through the afternoon traffic, and they tuck the covers around a sleeping child at night. Most of our days aren't made of mountaintop miracles; they are made of these small, rhythmic movements of the hands. And right there, in the middle of the ordinary, God whispers an extraordinary invitation to your heart. He doesn’t just see the big stage where the lights are bright; He sees the quiet corner where you are doing the work that no one else notices.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 tells us, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." Notice that the Word doesn’t say, "Whatever your hand finds that is glamorous," or "Whatever your hand finds that pays the most." It says whatever your hand finds. Maybe today your hand finds a sink full of dishes, a stack of spreadsheets, or a difficult conversation that needs a gentle touch. It is so easy to just go through the motions, isn’t it? We get tempted to cut the corners, to settle for "good enough," or to save our best energy for a day that feels more significant. But my friend, today is significant. This hour is a gift.

I’ve learned over the years that there is a quiet, holy dignity in diligence. I remember watching my wife, Victoria, approach the simplest tasks with such a beautiful spirit of excellence. She taught me that doing our best isn't about feeding our egos or trying to be perfect; it’s about stewardship. It’s about saying, "Lord, you gave me this day, this strength, and this task, and I want to offer it back to You with a smile." When you put your heart into that email, or you take the time to truly listen to that coworker, you are sowing seeds in a heavenly garden.

You might feel like you’re stuck in the "small things" right now. But God never overlooks your faithfulness. He uses the routine maintenance of today to build the foundation for your tomorrow. When you bring your "might" to the mundane, you are transforming a chore into an act of worship. You aren't just filing papers; you're honoring the Father. You aren't just fixing a meal; you're nourishing the ones He loves.

Don't wait for a bigger platform to give God your best. Bring your might to the task at hand right now. Whether you are building a business or simply building a peaceful home, do it with all the passion and grace you can muster. God is watching, He is smiling, and He is preparing a harvest for your diligence that is far greater than you can imagine. Put your heart into it today, knowing that in His hands, no small act of faithfulness is ever wasted.

Today's prayer
Lord, help me to approach every task today with diligence and purpose. May I serve you in all that my hand finds to do, giving my best with a grateful heart. Amen.
