Scripture
"Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'"

— Mark 6:31

From the book "Still Walking"
"Even Jesus, in the midst of intense ministry, knew the vital importance of stepping away for `rest`."

Oh, friend, sometimes life can feel like a swirling tornado, can't it? Demands pressing in from every side, a never-ending to-do list, and a constant clamor for your time and attention. You're running at full speed, giving your all, and before you know it, you're running on empty. You might even feel a little guilty when you consider slowing down, as if rest is a luxury you can't afford. But what if I told you that rest isn't just optional, it's absolutely vital? It's a divine appointment.

Even Jesus, the Savior of the world, understood this powerful truth. Imagine the scene: He's been healing the sick, teaching the multitudes, and pouring out His love and wisdom endlessly. The crowds are so immense, the needs so urgent, that He and His disciples don't even have a moment to grab a meal. It's a non-stop, high-demand season. Yet, in the midst of this whirlwind, Jesus didn't say, 'Push harder! Work longer!' No, He looked at His weary disciples, and with immense compassion, He invited them with these tender words: "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."

Isn't that beautiful? Jesus, in His infinite wisdom, knew that sustained impact comes from a place of replenishment, not depletion. He modeled for us that stepping away from the noise, from the endless activity, is not a sign of weakness, but a profound act of spiritual strength. It’s in those quiet moments, in that sanctuary of stillness, that we reconnect with the Source of our strength, our loving Heavenly Father.

This isn't about being lazy; it's about being wise. It's about filling your cup so you have more to pour out. It's about remembering that your worth isn’t tied to your endless doing, but to your unchanging identity as a beloved child of God. When you dare to step away, to embrace that quiet space, you're not just resting your body; you're refreshing your soul, renewing your spirit, and hearing God's whispered promises for your life. You're allowing Him to refuel you for the journey ahead. So go ahead, friend, accept His invitation. Prioritize that sacred rest.

When you honor this divine rhythm, you’ll discover a renewed energy, a fresh perspective, and a peace that truly surpasses all understanding. You’ll find yourself moving forward not out of anxious striving, but from a wellspring of grace, ready to shine even brighter. Expect to be recharged, revitalized, and ready to embrace the good plans God has for you!

What does it look like for you to truly

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the divine invitation to come away and rest. We often get caught in the whirlwind of life, forgetting the profound peace You offer in stillness. Help us to hear Your gentle voice in the midst of the noise, inviting us to Your quiet place. Grant us the courage and wisdom to prioritize this sacred rest, knowing that in You, we find our strength, our renewal, and the boundless grace to keep going. May our spirits be refreshed and our cups overflow, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
