Have you ever sat in your car, right before walking into church, and taken a deep breath to put on your 'Sunday smile'? You straighten your shoulders, bury the week's worries, and prepare to look like someone who has it all together. We all do it. We think God wants the polished version of us, the one who sings on key and never doubts. But my friend, that's not the God I know.
He isn't waiting for the fixed-up, tidied-up you. In fact, He’s leaning in closer right where you are, in the middle of the beautiful mess. The scripture promises that 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.' Think about that word. Close. He isn’t shouting encouragement from a distance. He’s right there with you, His hand on your shoulder, His presence a warm blanket in the cold. He 'saves those who are crushed in spirit' not by demanding they stop being crushed, but by entering into that space with them and performing a miracle of grace.
Your brokenness is not a disqualification for worship; it is an invitation. It’s an opportunity for you to experience a depth of God’s love you’d never know on the mountaintop. When you dare to come to Him with tear-stained cheeks, with a spirit that feels heavy and fractured, you are not offering Him less. You are offering Him what is real. And a real, honest heart is the most beautiful sound of praise He can hear. Your vulnerability is a strength, my friend, because it clears the way for God's strength to show up in your life in a powerful way.
God isn’t intimidated by your questions or discouraged by your struggle. He’s not looking for a performance. He is looking for you! He sees the battle you’re fighting. He knows the weight you are carrying. And He is saying, 'Bring it to me. All of it. The good, the bad, the broken. I can handle it.' Your honest cry for help is a symphony to His ears. Your whispered prayer in a moment of pain is the highest form of worship.
So today, I invite you to lay down the mask. Don't worry about holding it all together. Just fall into the arms of the One who is already holding you. Let Him see the real you. Your greatest victory and your most profound moment of worship are waiting for you right there, in the honest, unfiltered presence of the God who loves you completely.
