From the book "Still Walking"
"Sometimes, the hardest thing isn't moving forward, it's letting go of what's behind."

Friend, have you ever found yourself replaying those old tapes in your mind? The 'if onlys' and the 'what ifs' that echo from yesterday? We've all been there, haven't we? It's like we carry a backpack filled with past hurts, missed opportunities, and decisions we wish we could take back. This weight can feel so heavy, pulling us down, keeping us from truly living in the freedom and joy God has for us right now. Sometimes, we even begin to believe the lie that our past defines our future, that old mistakes block new blessings.

But I've got some good news for you today, incredible news straight from the heart of God! He doesn't want you stuck in yesterday. He wants you to live in the abundance of His grace, right here, right now. The prophet Isaiah brings us such a powerful, life-changing message: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" (Isaiah 43:18-19a).

Notice that, my friend? God isn't just suggesting you *try* to forget; He's actively instructing you to *forget* the former things! This isn't about ignoring your history or pretending things didn't happen. No, this is an invitation to release the *power* of the past over your present and your future. It's permission to unburden yourself from regret, shame, and self-condemnation. He knows that dwelling on what's behind us keeps us from seeing the magnificent future He's prepared.

And here's the beautiful part: right now, as you're reading this, God says, "I am doing a new thing!" Can you hear the excitement in His voice? He's not *going to* do a new thing; He *is* doing it! It's springing up all around you, right under your nose. Maybe it's a new opportunity knocking, a fresh perspective, a healing in a relationship, or a deeper understanding of His love. He's asking, "Do you not perceive it?" It's an invitation to open your spiritual eyes, to tune into His frequency, and to start looking for the fresh ways He's moving in your life.

Your past doesn't qualify or disqualify you from God's best. No matter what mistakes you've made, no matter what you're carrying, today is a new day. God is a God of new beginnings, fresh starts, and wide-open doors. He's not focused on your failures; He's focused on your future. He's ready to pour out blessings you haven't even dreamed of yet. So, take a deep breath, friend. Let go of the baggage. Open your heart to His fresh work. Believe that with Him, your best days are always ahead and new mercies greet you every morning. Your miracle is unfolding right now!

Get ready to step into the incredible, blessed, and brand-new chapter God has for you. Embrace it!

Reflect

What 'former thing' has been holding you back, and how can you proactively choose to release its power today, believing God is already doing a new thing in your life?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, we come to You today with open hearts, ready to receive Your fresh grace. We thank You for Your unending love and for always making a way for us. Help us to truly let go of yesterday's burdens, to release the grip of past regrets, and to forgive ourselves as You have forgiven us. Open our spiritual eyes, Lord, so we can clearly perceive the new things You are doing in our lives right now. Fill us with courage to step forward, trusting completely in Your perfect plan and embracing the bright future You have for us. We believe that with You, all things are new. Amen.
