His Relentless Love

The God Who Doesn’t Give Up - relentless love, faithfulness of God. Have you ever felt lost, friend? Like a tiny boat adrift in a vast ocean, with no land in…

Scripture
"“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”"

— Luke 15:4-7

From the book "Still Walking"
"The God Who Doesn’t Give Up - relentless love, faithfulness of God."

Have you ever felt lost, friend? Like a tiny boat adrift in a vast ocean, with no land in sight? Maybe life's storms have tossed you around, and you’re wondering if anyone even knows you’re missing. Perhaps you've made a few detours, taken some wrong turns, and now you’re standing at a crossroads, feeling a little less than you once were, a little bruised, a little… lost. It’s easy to feel that way sometimes, to imagine that you’ve wandered too far, that the good Shepherd might have moved on, focusing on the flock that stayed safely in the pasture.

But let me tell you a secret, a beautiful, life-changing truth: and that is, our God is a God who simply doesn't give up on you. He’s not watching from a distance, tapping His foot, waiting for you to figure things out on your own. No, He’s actively pursuing you, moving heaven and earth to bring you back into His loving embrace. Just like in the story Jesus told, where a shepherd leaves ninety-nine sheep to go find that one lost lamb, your Heavenly Father is doing the same for you, right now.

Think about it: He doesn’t just casually stroll out to see if you show up. The Bible says He 'goes after the one which is lost *until He finds it*.' That's amazing! That word 'until' speaks volumes. It reveals a tenacious, unwavering love that won't quit, won't surrender, won't stop searching until you're safely back in His arms. His love isn't a fair-weather friend; it's a constant, burning flame that illuminates even the darkest valleys you might find yourself in.

You see, your worth isn't determined by how perfectly you navigate life's pathways. It's not about how many mistakes you've made or how far you've roamed. Your worth is inherent, divinely stamped on your very soul by the Creator of the universe. And His love for you is so vast, so boundless, that He rejoices, truly rejoices, when you take even one step back toward Him.

When that shepherd finds the lost lamb, he doesn’t scold it or lecture it. He doesn't even make it walk home! No, he 'lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.' What a beautiful picture of grace! God doesn't just forgive you; He carries you, celebrates you, and welcomes you back with open arms and a joyful heart. He's not mad at you; He's mad about you!

So, no matter where you are today, no matter what you've done or haven't done, know this: God is pursuing you with a relentless, passionate love. He's calling your name, reaching out His hand, and eagerly awaiting your return. You are never too lost for Him to find, and His love for you will never, ever run out. You are His precious, cherished child, and His heart overflows with joy at the thought of you coming home.

Reflect

In what area of your life do you need to truly embrace God’s relentless pursuit and believe that you are never too far gone for His loving embrace?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing, relentless love. We are so grateful that You never give up on us, even when we wander or feel lost. Thank You for pursuing us with such passion and for always having open arms ready to welcome us home. Help us to always remember that Your joy is found in our return, and that Your grace is always abundant. Amen.
