Scripture
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand."

— Psalm 37:23-24

From the book "Still Walking"
"Even when the walk itself feels slow, uncertain, even stumbling is still sacred. This book is not a step-by-step formula to fix your faith. You don’t need a formula. You need hope."

My friend, have you ever felt that nudge, that whisper from deep within, telling you that your walk of faith should be a perfect, unblemished march? Perhaps you've imagined it like a grand parade, every step in rhythm, every banner flying high. But then, life happens, doesn't it? A pebble in the path, a sudden gust of wind, and suddenly, you find yourself stumbling, maybe even falling flat on your face. And in that moment, a crushing weight can descend, whispering, "You've failed. You're not good enough." Oh, how easily we can fall prey to that lie!

But let me tell you, that stumble, that moment of feeling unsteady, it's not the end of your story. It's not a sign of failure, but often, a sacred detour. Consider the Psalmist's beautiful assurance in Psalm 37:23-24: "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand." Isn't that a comfort? It doesn't say "if" you fall, it says "though" you fall. It acknowledges our human frailty, our moments of imperfection, but immediately follows with a glorious promise: you will not be utterly cast down!

Think about it. That powerful, loving hand of the Lord is right there, ready to catch you, to steady you, to lift you back up. It's not a hand that judges your fall; it's a hand that demonstrates His delight in your journey, even the unexpected detours. God isn't surprised by your stumbles; He anticipates them, and His grace is always preceding them, always surrounding them.

This isn't about embracing carelessness, no, not at all! It's about wholeheartedly embracing grace. It's about understanding that God isn't seeking perfection from you; He's seeking your heart, your trust, and your willingness to keep moving forward, even if it's with a limp, even if it's a bit wobbly. There's a profound beauty in stumbling, because it reminds us of our absolute dependence on a loving God who never lets go. It's in those moments of feeling weak that His strength truly shines through.

Your perceived brokenness, those moments you deem as failures, they are not roadblocks to God's love. Oh no, friend! Often, they are the very pathways through which His boundless grace flows most powerfully. They are the moments where His perfect strength is made evident in your human vulnerability. So, take heart, for the Lord delights in your way, and with His hand, He will always uphold you.

Today, know that you are deeply loved, unconditionally supported, and eternally upheld by the hand of a magnificent God who delights in every single step you take, especially the ones where you need His embrace the most. You are strong. You are capable. You are surrounded by His favor, and His anointing is on your life!

Reflect

In what area of your life do you feel like you've stumbled, and how can you invite God's uplifting hand into that space today, embracing His grace over self-condemnation?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, we come to You with grateful hearts, so thankful for Your ever-present hand in our lives. Thank You that even when we stumble and feel uncertain, You are there, ready to uphold us. Help us to release the pressure of perfection and to lean fully into Your amazing grace. May we always remember that You delight in our journey, and Your strength is made perfect in our moments of weakness. We trust in Your unfailing love to guide us. Amen.
