Planting Seeds of Blessing

The choices we make today are the seeds we plant for the harvest of tomorrow, both in our own lives and in the lives of those who follow. My friend, have you…

Scripture
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

— Galatians 6:7-8

From the book "Still Walking"
"The choices we make today are the seeds we plant for the harvest of tomorrow, both in our own lives and in the lives of those who follow."

My friend, have you ever held a tiny seed in the palm of your hand? It's unassuming, isn't it? Small, often drab, seemingly insignificant. Yet, within that little casing lies the blueprint for something magnificent – a towering oak, a vibrant garden, a field of golden wheat. It’s a powerful image, a beautiful reminder that even the smallest beginnings hold the promise of abundant growth.

You see, life works a lot like that. Every single day, with every choice we make, every word we speak, every action we take, we are essentially planting seeds. Think of it like this: your thoughts are seeds, your intentions are seeds, your kindness is a seed – even your frustrations can be seeds. The question isn't *if* you're planting, but *what* kind of garden you're cultivating.

The Bible gives us such a clear picture of this truth in Galatians. It tells us, simply and profoundly, that we reap what we sow. God's not up in heaven with a scoreboard, tallying our every mistake. No, this isn't about punishment; it's about a foundational spiritual principle, a law of the universe as constant as gravity. If you plant an apple seed, you can expect an apple tree, right? If you sow joy, guess what you're going to harvest? More joy!

Sometimes, in our fast-paced world, we can get caught up in living for the immediate. We sow seeds of impatience, of worry, of striving – and then we wonder why our harvest feels a little lean, a little less vibrant. But what if we shifted our focus? What if, with intentionality and faith, we started sowing seeds of love, peace, generosity, and grace? Imagine the landscape of your life then!

When you choose kindness over criticism, you’re planting a seed of connection. When you offer forgiveness instead of resentment, you’re planting a seed of freedom. When you invest in others, when you serve with a joyful heart, you are sowing into the fertile ground of eternity. These aren't just good deeds; they are divine deposits that will yield an unimaginable return.

You're not just planting for today, friend. You are planting for your tomorrow, for your children's tomorrow, and for a legacy that stretches far beyond what your eyes can see. Every act of faith, every moment of surrender to the Spirit, is a powerful seed, destined to blossom into eternal life, bringing glory to God and endless blessings to your journey. Get ready for an abundant harvest!

Reflect

What kind of “seeds” are you intentionally planting in your life and in the lives of others today, and what kind of harvest do you anticipate from them?

Today's prayer
Heavenly Father, we come to You today with open hearts, ready to be gardeners in Your kingdom. Help us to be mindful of every seed we plant – our thoughts, our words, our actions. Guide us by Your Holy Spirit to sow seeds of love, joy, peace, and kindness, knowing that You are the one who brings the increase. May our lives be a beautiful garden, yielding a harvest that blesses You and everyone around us, now and for eternity. Amen.
