Your Light Never Dims

Even in the deepest shadow, the light of God hasn't moved; my ability to see it has. My friend, have you ever found yourself in one of those seasons where…

Scripture
"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?"

— Psalm 27:1

From the book "Still Walking"
"Even in the deepest shadow, the light of God hasn't moved; my ability to see it has."

My friend, have you ever found yourself in one of those seasons where life feels like a long, dark tunnel? Perhaps the usual sparkle has faded, and the vibrant colors have given way to shades of gray. It’s in those moments, when the spiritual warmth you once knew seems to have gone missing, that a little whisper of doubt might try to settle in. It’s as if the joy generator has sputtered, and you’re looking around, wondering where the light has gone.

We’ve all been there, haven't we? That feeling when the promises of God, which once shone so brightly, now feel like distant memories. Fear, that sneaky little thief, tries to creep in, whispering anxieties and uncertainties into your heart. It paints a picture of a world where you're alone, adrift in a sea of shadows.

But let me tell you a beautiful, liberating truth, one that can shine through even the deepest gloom: *even in the deepest shadow, the light of God hasn't moved; your ability to see it has.* Oh, what a powerful distinction! It's not that God has dimmed His radiant presence; it's simply that our perspective, clouded by the cares of this world, might be temporarily hindering our view.

Think about it this way: the sun never stops shining, even when thick clouds blanket the sky. From our vantage point on the ground, it might look like a dark day, but up above those clouds, the sun is blazing just as brightly as ever. God’s light is exactly like that. He is constantly shining, constantly present, constantly faithful.

Psalm 27:1 declares, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” This isn't just a nice verse; it's a profound declaration of who God is in your life! He *is* your light, not just a source of light. He *is* your salvation, not just a pathway to it. And He *is* your stronghold, a rock-solid fortress that fear cannot penetrate, irrespective of what you're facing.

Your feelings might try to tell you a different story. Your circumstances might scream

Reflect

In what area of your life do you need to intentionally invite God to be your light and stronghold today, even if you can’t fully see the path ahead?

Today's prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being our never-fading light, our constant salvation, and our unshakable stronghold. Even when the world feels dim, we know Your truth remains. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, trusting that Your presence is always with us, illuminating our path. We choose to believe in Your unchanging goodness and grace. Amen.
